Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 19 April 2026. How we aim to make innovate.engineer usable by as many people as possible, and how to report a barrier.

1. Our commitment

We want the Site to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as a practical working standard, and we test the Site against that standard when we make material changes.

2. Current compliance status

The Site is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The issues listed in section 3 are known and are scheduled for remediation. We do not yet claim full conformance.

3. Known issues

  • Some decorative and background images are delivered via CSS without programmatic labels. Content images have alt text; purely decorative images are correctly marked empty, but a small number of legacy images are being re-audited.
  • Colour contrast on a small number of secondary text elements (muted grey on white) is close to but not yet consistently at the 4.5:1 ratio required for body text. A global contrast pass is scheduled.
  • The cookie consent banner relies on a third-party plugin (Complianz). Keyboard focus order within the banner follows the plugin’s default behaviour; we are reviewing it against WCAG 2.4.3.
  • Some embedded Notion content is rendered inside a container that does not yet announce a landmark role. A wrapper with an appropriate ARIA role is in progress.
  • Form error messages on the contact form are announced on submit but are not yet linked to each field via aria-describedby in every case.

4. Remediation timeline

The issues in section 3 are tracked as part of our current development sprint and are scheduled for resolution within the next two release cycles (target: June 2026). This statement will be updated when those fixes ship.

5. How we test

We use a combination of automated tooling (axe-core, Lighthouse) and manual keyboard-only and screen reader checks (VoiceOver on macOS, NVDA on Windows) when we make material changes to layout, navigation, or forms.

6. Feedback and contact

If you find a barrier that is not listed above, or you need content in an alternative format, please contact info@innovate.engineer. We aim to respond within 5 working days and will work with you to provide the information in a format you can use.

7. Enforcement

In the UK, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing accessibility regulations. If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your feedback, you may contact the EHRC via equalityadvisoryservice.com.
